Week 5- Assignment 3

The child I worked with had some trouble distinguishing between singular and plural nous as well and word recognition. In order to address these needs I’m creating a mini lesson on singular and plural nouns.

The lesson will start off with an activity called Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down. In this activity, I will work with the child to explore nouns. I will write a singular noun on a piece of paper and write its plural form incorrectly. The student will simply give me a “thumbs up” if she thinks it’s correct and “thumbs down” if she thinks it’s incorrect.  I will use different words and throw in common misspellings and irregular nous. This activity will teach the student the difference between singular and plural nouns and be observant of it in the text.

  2. Hi Fatima,

I really like this literacy activity. You have created a lesson that is in the form of a very engaging game. I think that any student who participates in this lesson will have fun while they learn. In fact, they may not even realize that it is a lesson. This is such an innovative lesson concept!
